What does the BrightPay integration do?
The integration allows Timekeeper users to export timesheet data directly into BrightPay for payroll processing.
Is this integration available for both UK and Ireland BrightPay versions?
No, currently the integration is only available for the UK version of BrightPay. Integration with the Irish version is planned for a future release.
How do I connect Timekeeper to BrightPay if I’m already a BrightPay customer?
If you’re already using BrightPay UK, connecting your account to Timekeeper is super straight forward. Follow this guide.
How do I connect BrightPay to my existing Timekeeper account?
If you're already a TimeKeeper user and you use BrightPay UK for payroll, you can easily link the two systems to begin exporting time data. Check out the guide here
Functionality
What are the key steps in the BrightPay export process?
- Check connection to employer
- Map employees (auto-mapped where possible)
- Map hourly rates (optional)
- Export time data to BrightPay
How does employee mapping work?
Timekeeper automatically matches employees by email, name, phone number, or works number. Email is the most reliable and commonly used method.
Can I include paid leave in my exports?
Yes. You can choose to include or exclude paid leave, and optionally map leave hours to specific pay rates in BrightPay.
Are there any export restrictions?
Time data can only be exported to open payslip periods in BrightPay. Different pay periods are supported as long as they are aligned.
Onboarding & Setup
How do I get started with the BrightPay integration?
Use the special onboarding URL: https://app.timekeeper.co.uk/integrations/brightpay/sign-up
This will redirect you to BrightPay’s login page and start your Timekeeper trial. Alternatively visit the registration screen and click "Sign up with BrightID".
Can I import my existing BrightPay employees into Timekeeper?
Yes, you can import employees directly from BrightPay. Email addresses are required.
What happens if some employees don’t have an email?
You can manually add those employees. Automatic invites will be sent to imported employees who have emails.
Is there a special onboarding experience for BrightPay users?
Yes, the onboarding flow is specifically tailored for BrightPay customers, making setup faster and smoother.
Limitations & Known Issues
- Statutory leave (e.g., sick, maternity) must be handled directly in BrightPay.
- Not suited to payroll bureaus at this stage. Bureau-specific features are coming later.
